Rogers Elementary Holds Read A Thon

Students read 829 books in six days!!!   As students read books they are tested on their comprehension of what they have read through Accelerated Reader a computer based testing system.  If a student passes the test over the book they have read they are awarded points. These points are used for rewards of various types.  Rogers Elementary student Michaela Manning currently has 460 points which is a remarkable achievement.  Reading independently and being able to recall and understand what has been read is a vital skill for students as they progress through school and enter the workforce and/or college.  Additionally developing reading skills is a crucial life skill that will help students become successful with whatever goals they set for themselves.   Wolfe County Schools and Rogers Elementary encourage all parents to emphasize reading for your own children.  A huge thanks to all the staff and parents of Rogers Elementary for motivating students to become better readers.
