Wolfe County Student Voice

On March 14, 2016 Wolfe County Students that was selected for the Appalachian Student Voice Team held their very first meeting. The following students were selected to represent Wolfe County Schools: Luke Thompson (8th grade), Jayla Lindon (7th), Michaela Manning (7th), Brendan Bush (10th), Elizabeth Gilbert (10th), and Erica Mattingly (8th).  Glenn Baker, community education director for Owsley County Schools and founder of the Appalachian Student Voice team and Wendy Pelfrey, community education director for Wolfe County Schools are sponsors of the program. Students did several activities to get to know each other and learn the importance of having a voice for education. Students will travel to Frankfort on March 22nd. Students will attend town hall meetings, legislative sessions, and present to the Board of Education. Congratulations to these students. We look forward to hearing their voice!
